When To Know Your Place

How do you really know your place in life?

How can you be positive that what you've put years of work into is your true purpose?

I don't know about you, but I find my mind wandering to this place from time to time. That small slice of doubt that creeps into your mind making you second guess all of your blood and sweat and tears.

So, how do you really know? There's no proof that a particular course of action is the right one. There is no mathematical equation or book entitled "The Questions You'll Have In Life" with the answers in the back.

The fact is, every day we take a leap of faith. Every morning when we roll out of bed we are subconsciously telling ourselves that we are taking the correct course of action. However, every morning we're just doing it on a whim. We're just doing it hoping that we're right.

Howard Thurman once said,

"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world
needs is people who have come alive."

I feel like so many people never follow this quote. They simply rely on what the world thinks they should do, and ignore that feeling in their gut trying to show them truth. So much so, that I think many people stop feeling it altogether.

That's when life really gets scary. With so many people in the world and each with their own opinion of what you should do, that gut feeling is the only direction you really have. You're the only one that can determine your path. You're the only one that can have true faith.

"If only we'd stop trying to be happy we'd have a pretty good time." - Edith Wharton
